Vehicle tracking · Quebec

Vehicle tracking in Quebec — CarviQ

CarviQ is a vehicle tracking system built for Quebec. It doesn't track where your vehicle drives — it tracks what costs you money: maintenance, fuel, repairs and history, for individuals and fleets alike.

What does tracking a vehicle mean?

Tracking a vehicle isn't just knowing where it is. It's knowing what it costs you, when the next service is due, and everything that's happened since you bought it. CarviQ centralizes this in one file per vehicle: scanned receipts, oil changes, tires, repairs, fuel consumption and automatic reminders. No more scattered receipts, no more "I thought I'd done it."

For an individual — A digital garage that warns you before the surprise $900 bill, keeps a clean history for resale, and shows you your vehicle's real monthly cost — fuel, maintenance and repairs combined.

For a fleet — The real cost per vehicle, the maintenance to get ahead of before a breakdown, and CFO-ready reporting — without a fragile spreadsheet nobody keeps up to date.

Cost tracking ≠ GPS telematics

This is the most common confusion. Geotab, Verizon Connect and GPS boxes track location, speed and trips in real time. CarviQ doesn't do that — and doesn't try to.

CarviQ tracks maintenance, costs and history. The two are complementary: your telematics knows where the truck is at 2 p.m.; CarviQ knows how much it cost you this month and when its belt is about to go. If you already have Geotab, CarviQ plugs into it instead of replacing it. If you have nothing, CarviQ covers the need most managers feel first: per-vehicle financial visibility.

A concrete example: an 8-vehicle fleet that avoids 2 breakdowns a year saves about $1,600 (towing, labour, replacement vehicle). Those are costs a GPS never sees coming.

Your data stays in Quebec, and stays yours (Law 25)

CarviQ is built under Quebec's Law 25. Your data is hosted in Canada, encrypted in transit and at rest, never sold or rented, and exportable anytime. A tracking system accumulates sensitive data about your costs and habits — you must be able to retrieve and delete it whenever you want.
